Can individuals with Pro or Max plan accounts migrate them to Claude for Work (Team or Enterprise plan) organizations?

Updated today

Individual Claude accounts, including paid plans (Pro and Max), and Claude for Work (Team and Enterprise plan) accounts are completely separate and give users access to different features. Currently, there is no way to migrate an individual free, Pro, or Max plan account to the member list on a Claude for Work organization.

Is there any way to merge my Pro or Max plan account with my Claude for Work (Team or Enterprise plan) account?

No, you cannot merge an individual Pro or Max plan account with a Claude for Work (Team or Enterprise plan) account, even if both accounts use the same email address. Because the two account types are intended for different use cases and don’t offer the same capabilities, they cannot be combined.

How can users with multiple accounts manage them?

Users with both individual and Claude for Work (Team or Enterprise plan) accounts tied to the same email address will be able to toggle between the two by clicking on their initials or name in the lower left corner of the screen:

A blue checkmark shows which account you're currently using. Click on the other account to switch to it and access its separate conversations and projects.

If you’d prefer to discontinue the individual account and use only the Team or Enterprise plan account moving forward, you can follow the instructions here to cancel and delete the individual account: How can I delete my Claude account?

Considerations for Enterprise plans

Organizations with Enterprise plans have access to single sign-on (SSO) and domain verification. Owners and Primary Owners can:

  • Restrict usage of any verified domains to accounts added to the Enterprise plan instance.

  • Prevent employees from creating new individual accounts with company email addresses.

Organizations with Enterprise plans have access to single sign-on (SSO), so Owners and Primary Owners can restrict usage of their domain to accounts added to the Claude for Work instance. See Important Considerations Before Enabling Single Sign-On for more information about domain verification and how it affects individual accounts.
