Anthropic MCP Directory FAQ

Updated today

What is an MCP?

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, an open standard created by Anthropic that allows AI applications to connect to tools and data sources. For comprehensive information about MCPs and how to get started, please see our guide: Getting Started with Model Context Protocol (MCP) on Claude for Desktop.

What is the MCP Directory?

Anthropic's MCP Directory aims to showcase the best Model Context Protocol servers that work with Claude across all our platforms - from claude.ai and Claude Desktop to Claude Code and the MCP connector in our API. The MCP Directory will serve as a trusted place to discover quality MCP servers.

How do I get my MCP listed in the directory?

You can fill out our interest form and we'll reach out about next steps if your MCP would be a good fit for the directory at this time.

I filled out the interest form but haven't heard back yet - how long will it take?

We are not yet in a fully open submission process, so we cannot guarantee a response timeline. However, we are reviewing submissions from the interest form as quickly as we can and will reach out when we begin accepting submissions.

Are there standards my MCP will need to adhere to for inclusion in the directory?

Yes, we have established MCP server quality and security standards for our directory, though adhering to these standards does not guarantee inclusion in the directory. You can find our complete best practices guide here.

These standards cover areas including:

  • Company verification and credibility

  • Implementation quality and reliability

  • Privacy and data protection

  • Security requirements

  • Content and behavior standards

  • User experience guidelines
